Onboard REV Ocean
REV Ocean aims to be at the forefront of marine research by integrating cutting-edge marine technology with advanced research facilities. She will be equipped with world-class laboratories designed to preserve, process, analyse and store specimens while at sea.
As well as this, REV Ocean will feature a suite of acoustic sensors, capable of mapping the seafloor down to hadal depths, while also surveying biological communities in the water column. To support deep-sea exploration, REV Ocean will carry the DSV Aurelia, the world's deepest-diving three-person acrylic submarine, capable of reaching depths of 2,200 metres.
Additionally, the ROV Aurora, together with its tethered management system Borealis, will have a depth rating of 6,000 metres, granting access to 98 percent of the world's ocean. REV Ocean also has five hangar gantry cranes, pelagic trawling equipment and a moonpool that allows for sheltered water access in a variety of conditions.
Exploration in polar regions will be facilitated by an Airbus ACH145 helicopter, which can operate from either of the two helidecks onboard. The aircraft will also support re-supply and passenger transport operations.
REV Ocean will also be equipped with a dedicated onboard conference centre, providing extensive facilities, including meeting rooms, a multipurpose exhibition space, a 35-seat auditorium with Dolby Atmos for high-quality presentations and a media editing suite for videography and documentary production.
