84m Feadship Superyacht Obsidian On Sea Trials
The 84.2-metre Feadship superyacht Obsidian has completed her maiden voyage. The Feadship 710 motor yacht recently underwent day one of her extensive sea trials in the North Sea.
Construction of Obsidian began in 2020 with construction of her hull subcontracted to Casco & Sectiebouw Rotterdam (CSR). She features exterior design, interior architecture and design by RWD in collaboration with Monk Design, with naval architecture from De Voogt Naval Architects.
Obsidian features a silvery hull with dark glazing from bow to stern with clean and crisp lines and an accentuated plumb bow. Her asymmetrical atrium staircase leads to a lower deck dining saloon where an entire wall opens to reveal a terrace view just above sea level.
Near her stern is an 'aqua lounge' with large windows below water level. In place of a mooring deck, there is a revelatory bow observation lounge with double-curved glass floor-to-ceiling windows. Obsidian features fold-out balconies towards her stern, with a spacious beach club area that extends towards the sea to offer direct contact with the water.
Obsidian is the first in a new generation of Feadship yachts furthering carbon reduction through hulls optimised at cruising speed instead of top speed, weight control, advancements in electric propulsion, and the ability to run her generators on HVO, a second-generation biodiesel, a so-called net zero CO2 fuel.
