Echo Yachts begins construction of world's largest sailing catamaran ASC57

Australian custom superyacht builder Echo Yachts has announced that construction of the 57-metre sailing catamaran ASC57 is underway at their facility in the Australian Marine Complex, Western Australia.

"In partnership with renowned Dutch sailing yacht designers Dykstra Naval Architects and Australia's leading aluminium multihull experts One2Three Naval Architects, Echo Yachts will deliver the world's largest sailing catamaran to date," Echo Yachts commented.

Inspired by Echo Yachts' new-build 56-metre yacht Charley 2, which was delivered in 2023, the sailing catamaran ASC57 is set to feature a similarly wide range of water toys and helicopter landing facilities.

Unlike her predecessor, however, ASC57 will boast a twin-Dynarig sail system by Southern Spars, coupled with a sleek exterior design penned by the Dutch Dykstra Naval Architects. Meanwhile, Australian firm One2Three has been tasked with crafting her naval architecture and structural design.

Additionally, ASC57's sail power allows for the installation of a regenerative power system, which will employ twin shaft generators as well as a battery storage system for silent running while under sail.

Equipped with CPP driveline, the sailing yacht's system permits the use of main engines, without requiring separate generators to run in order to power her when motoring.

Composed of hydrodynamic efficient aluminium hulls, full sail-powered propulsion, power regeneration and deployment options, ASC57 is aimed at delivering an environmentally conscious approach to yachting.

This project is also defined by her "weight reduction, simplicity, and ease of operation," according to the Australian builder, as her efficient aluminium hull form and twin Dynarigs make way for a total sail area of some 1660-square-metres.
